What does an actuarial work space look like?
An actuary typically works in an office at a desk. Given the nature of actuarial work – actuaries solve problems by themselves or with teams – no fixed working hours are usually required.
Companies are quite flexible with the hours required in the office. As long as high quality outputs are regular an actuary has a level of freedom that most professionals do not enjoy.
An actuary will also usually have a team of younger actuaries or actuarial students working for them and part of their job will be to manage the team. Most young actuaries are hard working and very pleasant so the team environment is usually fun, engaging and highly productive.
Overall, an actuary’s work environment is comfortable, positive and enjoyable. These are some of the reasons that actuary consistently ranks among the top jobs in the world.
